Many of the hotels in Madrid are fine examples of Classic Spanish architecture. When looking for a hotel, Madrid has many different options. The city is very large and spread out, so if you know the main sites you want to visit it is best to try and stay in a Madrid hotel near those locations.

Madrid also hosts a wide array of eateries. Many of the local delicacies are best sampled in one of the city's Tapas Bars, where you can sip wine and nibble various appetizers. Much of Madrid's cuisine is seafood based, even though they aren't

Madrid's Museo del Prado is one of the best art collections in the world. It houses over 7000 paintings, and contains a huge section devoted to the Spanish Masters. For a look at more modern Spanish art, visit the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia. This huge museum contains mostly 20th Century art. The Palacio Real (Royal Palace) is made up of almost 2000 rooms which are open to the public, and hold endless antiques and paintings.

Madrid's Gran Via is any Shopaholic's dream. This district contains hundreds of shops carrying merchandise of every kind. El Rastro is a huge flea market, but be sure to be wary of thieves.

The city offers a wide array of nighttime activities. There are a few Flamenco clubs around town, as well as ballet, theatre, Jazz and Classical music. Madrid's dance clubs rival those in much bigger cities, and the cover is reasonable.
